Description:
Jatamansi, commonly known as Spikenard, is a perennial herb with a stout, aromatic rhizome. The plant grows to a height of 10-60 cm and has a tuft of radical leaves. The leaves are simple, oblong to ovate, and the plant produces pink, bell-shaped flowers. The rhizomes and roots are the most used parts in Ayurvedic medicine, known for their distinct aroma and therapeutic properties.

Occurrence:
Jatamansi is native to the Himalayan region and is found at high altitudes in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and China. It grows in alpine and sub-alpine zones, often in rocky, moist environments.
